We had a great day on Sunday 19th May, the site looked good and the cattle were happy. Tazhunt Dexter Stud had 11month old Huckleberry Finn and 7 1/2 month old Hail Mary O'Shea. The Rawlings Dexter Stud took along a Small Time Eveready and her 1 month old calf Jinx, Holly O'Shea and High Hope (both heifers). We had 2 sites booked and the panels tied back to the trailers with the display boards in front to funnel people past the animals. We had a lot of interest in both purchasing of cattle and the availability of meat. It was great to talk to so many people. Quite a number of people had seen us at Agfest.

You can see Dexters this Sunday 19th May at the Polytechnic Farm on Mooreville Rd, Burnie between 10am & 2pm. Mark & Margaret Rawlings along with Ron & Julie Hunt will be taking a couple of heifers, a bull and a cow with a three week old calf at foot.
There are plenty of guest speakers on water conservation, soil health and a fencing demonstration. Entry is Free. We would love to talk to you about how our cattle can be accommodated on your small land holding. Well Agfest is over for another year and I would like to sincerely thank Ian Clayton from Preston Park Dexter Stud and Olga Stack from Kywong Dexter Stud for bringing along their animals this year.
It is a lot of hard work setting up for Agfest, being there on the three days and packing up to go home. Thanks must also go to all of our memebrs who helped over the four days. But especially those who were there for all four days or three of the four days, we appreciate your efforts. Our corner site looked awesome and really stood out with the banners visible from two directions and we were even visibile from the exhibition sheds. Our green gazebos stood out in a sea of white marquees. We had a large number of enquiries for Dexter cattle, many who had not had cattle before and Dexters would be there first experience, and also for Dexter beef. Without the hard work and dedication of a team of our members we would not be able to promote our cattle as well. A huge thank you. Marg Rawlings Photos coutresy of Ian Clayton |
