Power was only reconnected yesterday (Thurs) after 2 weeks with none, and we were unable to return home (highway closed) until Saturday 12th - 8 days after the fires came
through.
We came down with a day convoy from Sorell on Tues 8th to check cattle for water and any euthanasing that was
necessary.
We dropped all the tape fencing as they only had ash in their troughs, so they could drink from the dam. All the pipework for the water troughs is burnt and will be replaced soon.
We are feeling very blessed right now!!! We have been very lucky as the fires have surrounded our property, burnt within 1 metre of the hay shed and burnt most fencing. We still have our house and sheds, animals and lives.
The cattle have been put together for now until fencing is repaired. Luckily our insurance is paying for replacement & the fencer begins Monday.
Our lovely Dexters are OK, (2 have a little cough) and they are not testing the fencing yet (except of course the curious
calves).
We moved them onto the greenest pastures when the fire was headed our way.
Their isn't any greener grass now than where they are and someone has dropped a round bale in to keep them happy.
Have include a couple of pics.
It is so nice to be home and able to move forward.
Thanks again for all your well wishing and support.
Kind regards Pam& Paul @ Mesmereyes
